ORTC RACE IS HIT

November 1, 2009

The days were sunny and the nights cooled off a bit to make it comfortable. The ORTC  race in Bradenton, Fl. went off like a well oiled machine. Just a couple scrapes on the wall made for two hold ups but the Bradenton Motorsports Park crew cleaned up quick and kept the race moving right along. The crew seemed to work flawlessly together in the efforts to clean the track and keep the down time to a minimum. Allen was more than curteous to our every needs and a special thanks goes out to the people in the tower for all of their help and work.

Donald Long made this race for the racers and thats just what it was. The racers had a good time and they came to race for some big money. Much of the field qualifying in the 4.80 range or less and Paul Majors running not one but two 4.58 passes. The radial cars were hauling ass and the crowds loved it. "The racers enjoy this race", said Robert Coady from Category 5 chassis,"the racers come from all over because they know they are going to be treated with respect".

Tony Ridenour took top honors out of 60+ cars. Running in the 70's all day. Tony didn't get it handed to him there was some big dogs who showed up. The likes of Stevie Jackson, John Klevis, David Hance and Paul Majors just to mention a few, but Ridenour just stayed with his game plan and he ran what he brought to the track that day.

The Saturday night party was great. Everybody just sat back and unwinded a little bit. The center of the party was the backhalf of the boat that rolled in on a trailer with the big tower. The tower covered in speakers with the DJ at the top. There was also a T.V. Ffor kareoke and music videos. Of course the food. The mayor never lets the radial army go without. All weekend it was come and get it with ribs, chicken and a shrimp boil.

All in all I don't think you find a better race. When we asked Donald Long what he thought about how the race went he said, "spend your time writing about the racers, thats what this race is about".
